Hi, my name is John R. Sotelo, and I have been living the keto lifestyle since December of 2017. I was pushing 380lbs in the winter of 2017 and I was living a very unhealthy lifestyle.  I wouldn’t be if I had not discovered the Keto (low carb) Diet. With the determination, research and trial and error I found an easy and satisfying diet called the Keto (ketogenic) diet or low carb diet some call it.  I tried several diets that just didn’t fit me, before I found the keto way of living.

After consulting with my doctor, I was informed that the healthy weight for my age and height is 150lbs. I got down to 150lbs, but I didn’t feel comfortable there. I wanted a little meat and muscle tone. I am comfortable at 170-180lbs

I currently live in the United States, in Illinois. I am a creative director with a local marketing company, but I have been passionate about nutrition and healthy living for the past two years.  I love food, I love the science of food, photography, web design, cooking and creating new recipes. I am a firm believer in the low carb keto lifestyle and regular exercise. As a computer geek, I base my views on valid research, trial and error and I have first-hand experience of what it is to be on a keto low carb diet.

I changed the way ate in the winter of 2017, when I was at my biggest and lowest point in life. I thought I had a thyroid issue, I had no energy, and I found it more and more difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Socially, mentally and physically.

Finally, I got tired of that lifestyle, and I was determined to regain my health by following a different approach.

That’s when I found the Keto diet, I decided to quit sugar, grains, and processed foods, and start following the ketogenic approach to food.

This is not a diet. It isn’t about losing weight at any cost; it’s about adopting a healthier lifestyle. Developing the tools to enhance your way of life. My goal is to help you by sharing my first hand experience, whether it’s your dream weight or just eating healthy I believe you will have success with the Keto Lifestyle.

I want to share

I stareted this blog and youtube channel from an article that was written about me in the local newspaper. After this article came out, I had so many people come up to me and ask me to help them. Now I’m not a nutritionist, I’m not a doctor, I just found something that worked for me.  There is so much information (good and bad) out there that I decided to just show the here and they can find what works for them.  I am happy to be able to share the knowledge, trial and errors with anyone that this helps.



Apart from delicious low carb and keto recipes, I provide my personal guide and articles that have helped me to be successful with keto.

It’s common to think that you’ll be eating boring and tasteless food on a ketogenic or low carb diet. Yes, there are some simple foods that are a staple, there are so many ways to add variety back into your diet and keep you satisfied.  Whether it’s a single serve portion to meals that can feed the whole family, let’s make cooking keto as simple and easy as possible.

Here are just some of the photos from throughout my journey. When I was bigger I hated taking my picture, so some of them I don’t smile.  When I started really applying myself to start cooking delicious low carb recipes, the response from my family was amazing. Although they didn’t follow the entire program, they loved the recipes I tried. Sticking with a low carb plan doesn’t mean boring.
