Keto Diet is …
A high-fat, very low-carb, and moderate protein intake diet. DO NOT CONFUSE WITH LOW CARB DIET.
When you limit the number of carbs that you are taking in the day, your body will go into and stay in ketosis.
What is ketosis?
Ketosis is a metabolic state, where your body burns natural ketones for fuel instead of the carbohydrates in high carb foods and sugars. Basically, you eat less carbs …. but that’s not all.
The idea is that getting most of your calories from fat, forces your body to use different energy.
Removing the carbs, forces the body to burn fat. There is a catch, not everybody reacts the same. Based on individual needs and preferences, you will need to experiment.

What does keto even mean?
The “keto” as in KETOgenic, is a diet that came from the fact that it allows the body to make natural fuel called “ketones” This is an alternate fuel source for the body rather than bad carbs or sugar.
When you eat very few carbs, the liver produces ketones from fat. Those ketones then go to work and become the fuel source for your entire body.
INSIGHT: My brain can run fantastic on ketones. This is one of the many benefits from ketones as fuel. My brain is hungry for knowledge, and energy every single day.
Without carbs and sugar, your entire body switches it’s fuel to run mostly on your stored fat. Burning it 24-7 for fuel. This is the essential defininition of the keto diet.
Low Carbs + Good High Fat = burn fat for fuel
With Keto it becomes easier to access your stored fat to burn it off for energy.
If you are trying to lose weight this is the best reason for the keto diet, but there are also other benefits from being on a keto lifestyle.
Less hunger and a steady supply of natural energy, while your mind is clear, alert and focused. You’ll start noticing the secondary benefits when your body goes into ketosis.

Ketones, I said that above, your body will make ketones naturally for energy and fuel for day to day, especially for the brain.
With all those ketones running around super charging your body it will enter a metabolic state called ketosis.
My body goes into ketosis in about 3-4 days. By keeping under 20 grams of carbs consumed, my body will be in ketosis naturally. You can feel your body slipping into ketosis naturally. Increased focus, better sleep, little spring in your step. There are other ways to tell to, you may get some bad breath, and you will visit the john on a more regular basis.
